Developers can use services such as Azure App Service to build and run web applications. Managed services can minimise the amount of server administration required.

For example, a developer can focus on the application code while the cloud platform manages much of the underlying infrastructure. This can make deployment and scaling simpler, especially for teams that do not want to maintain physical servers.

However, cloud security is not handled completely by the provider. Security follows a shared responsibility model.

For example, with Infrastructure as a Service, you are responsible for areas such as your virtual machines, operating systems, applications, and data configuration. The provider manages the physical cloud infrastructure.

Azure Regions and Global Infrastructure

Another important aspect is its global infrastructure. Microsoft currently lists over 70 regions and more than 400 data centres for its cloud infrastructure. The exact services available may differ by region, so you should check regional availability before choosing a location for your application.

For users in India, this feature can be especially useful when data location, performance, and local requirements matter.

Microsoft lists regions including Central India, South India, and West India. However, you should check the current service availability for the specific product you plan to use.

Microsoft Azure vs Other Cloud Platforms

The cloud market includes several major providers, including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft. Instead of choosing a provider only because it has a large number of services, you should look at your own requirements.

For example, an organization that already uses Microsoft technologies may find cloud services that connect well with its existing environment useful. A development team may instead focus on programming languages, databases, containers, AI tools, regional availability, support, and pricing.

Is Azure Suitable for Every Business?

No cloud platform is automatically the right choice for every business. Your choice should be based on your workload, technical skills, data requirements, security needs, region, performance goals, and budget.

Cloud services can reduce the need for physical hardware, but they do not mean that IT costs disappear. You still need to monitor resource usage and control unnecessary services. Microsoft provides pay as you go options, and cloud resource charges can depend on actual usage.
